This section covers adding 3 Rear Remotes On A TC-40D SS Class III Boomer Tractor

Click on any thumbnail picture below to be taken to a full size counterpart.
These are the parts contained in the first rear remote kit.

These are the parts contained in the second rear remote kit.

These are the parts contained in the third rear remote kit.
To prep the tractor for the installation of the remotes you will need to jack up
the right rear of the tractor and support it with a jack stand or blocking
capable of supporting the weight of the tractor. Remove the right rear tire
assembly.
This is the end plate that will need to be removed to install the remote
kits. Notice that since my tractor is set up to use a backhoe the arrow points
to the return line connection (quick connect) for the power beyond port.

Remove HPL (hydraulic power lift) control handle knob and right side pod.
There is enough slack in any switch wiring attached to the pod that it can
easily be set in front of the seat as my picture indicates.

HPL pivot rod support bracket removed.

Remove end cap from HPL cover and discard the bolts.
IMPORTANT When installing multiple remote kits use the longer threaded
rods provided with either the second or third remote kit. Discard bolts provided
in the single remote kit. Gently remove the O-rings from under the end cap as
this set will need to be reused. Notice on this picture that the o-rings are
still adhering to the cast iron.

Remove right side mounting bolts of HLP top link bracket and discard bolts.
Install tube support bracket onto top link bracket using two new M12 x 40 mm
bolts and lock washers provided.

We carefully cleaned the area with a rag saturated with mineral sprits. Be
sure to keep all debris form going into any of the open ports. Install threaded
rods from remote valve kit number three. Install the longest rod in the left
lower hole. note that these rods have a slot on one end so that you can use a
flat blade screwdriver to thread them in and snug them up. We also found it
easier to remove the cotter pin from the HLP control linkage and rotate the
actuator arm counterclockwise to facilitate more clearance.

Before you slide the first remote valve body on the threaded rods you will
need to prep it by threading the brass adapter fittings into the valve body.
Install the shorter adapter to the rear of the remote and the longer adapter in
the front of the remote. Whenever we work with any treaded connection that is
under pressure we first coat the threads with a product called Leak Lock. It
lubricates the threads letting you get them tighter and they have less chance
for leakage later. We highly recommend this since all three valves will be
tightly stacked in the final configuration making any further tightening almost
impossible at a later date. We also used a light coating of Vaseline or grease
to hold the 4 0-rings on the backside of each remote valve body while
assembling.

Attach a female quick connect fitting to each of the hydraulic tubes using
Leak Lock to lubricate and seal the threads while tightening. We actually waited
to install the quick connects until later but it is much easer to do this now.
Install both hydraulic tubes to the brass adapter fittings. Install rear tube
first then front tube, do not tighten yet.

Align tubes against the rear tube support and install furnished clamp using
M6 X 20 mm bolt and lock washer. Now tighten tube fittings at this time. Go slow
and make sure that they are tight.

Install upper control handle to remote valve linkage using two M6 X 20 bolts
and lock washers at arrow. Before you completely tighten the 2 bolts center the
control handle in the cut out area from above the tractor so that it can move an
equal distance both ways within the slot. Note that there are two handles
supplied with each remote kit. The larger handle is for the deluxe tractors and
the smaller handle is for the economy tractors. Discard the extra handle
depending on your usage.

The second and third remote valves will install basically like the first. If
you look at this picture carefully you will see that the second remote valve
body that has been stacked on the first.
Before you slide the second remote valve body on the threaded rods you will need
to prep it by installing the brass adapter fittings in the valve body. Install
the shorter adapter to the rear of the remote and the longer adapter in the
front of the remote. Again, coat the threads with Leak Lock. Use a light coating
of Vaseline or grease to hold the 4 0-rings on the backside of each remote valve
body while assembling.

Attach a female quick connect fitting to each of the hydraulic tubes using
Leak Lock to lubricate and seal the threads while tightening. Install both
hydraulic tubes to the brass adapter fittings. Install rear tube first then
front tube, do not tighten yet.

Install the tube support plate bracket using a M6 X 20 mm bolt and lock
washer. Attach a female quick connect fitting to each of the hydraulic tubes
using Leak Lock to lubricate and seal the threads while tightening. Install both
hydraulic tubes to the brass adapter fittings. Install rear tube first then
front tube, do not tighten yet. Align tubes against the rear support and install
furnished clamp using M6 X 20 mm bolt and lock washer at arrow. Now tighten tube
fittings at this time. Go slow and make sure that they are tight. Install upper
control handle to remote valve linkage using two M6 X 20 bolts and lock washers.
Before you completely tighten the 2 bolts center the control handle in the cut
out area from above the tractor so that it can move an equal distance both ways
within the slot. Note that there are two handles supplied with each remote kit.
The larger handle is for the deluxe tractors and the smaller handle is for the
economy tractors. Discard the extra handle depending on your usage.

If you look at this picture carefully you will see that the third remote
valve body has been stacked on the first and second. Before you slide the third
remote valve body on the threaded rods you will need to prep it by installing
the brass adapter fittings in the valve body. Install the shorter adapter to the
rear of the remote and the longer adapter in the front of the remote. Again,
coat the threads with Leak Lock. Use a light coating of Vaseline or grease to
hold the 4 0-rings on the backside of each remote valve body while assembling.

Remove upper left mounting nut and lock washer of HPL top link bracket and
reuse lock washer and nut. Install tube support plate, reusing the original nut
and lock washer.

Attach a female quick connect fitting to each of the hydraulic tubes using
Leak Lock to lubricate and seal the threads while tightening. Install both
hydraulic tubes to the brass adapter fittings. Install rear tube first then
front tube, do not tighten yet. Align tubes against the left rear support and
install furnished clamp using M6 X 20 mm bolt and lock washer. Now tighten tube
fittings at this time. Go slow and make sure that they are tight. Use a light
coating of Vaseline or grease to hold the 4 0-rings on the backside of the end
cap and put it in place using 4 M8 lock washers and nuts. Torque nuts to 18 ft.
pounds.
Install upper control handle to remote valve linkage using two M6 X 20 bolts and lock washers. Before you completely tighten the 2 bolts center the control handle in the cut out area from above the tractor so that it can move an equal distance both ways within the slot.

Reattach support bracket that was removed earlier. Reattach any other
linkages that you may have taken off in the installation process.

This shot was taken from the back side of the tractor to give you an idea of
the close proximity of the hydraulic lines that attach to the rear remote
valves. This is why it is very important to make all connections tight the first
time around. It's doubtful that you'll be able to go back to retighten a
hydraulic leak at a later time without some major disassembling.

This is what all 3 control handles look like from the top side before the
pod is reinstalled.

Reinstall pod assembly making sure not to pinch any switch electrical
wiring.

Install operation decals for all three remote slots. Orient the decal with
the extended cylinder symbol facing toward the front. Reinstall the right rear
tire and torque the lug nuts to 125 ft. pounds. Remove the supports and jack.
Start the tractor engine and check the valves for proper operation and leakage.

Here's how the finished remote bank quick connects will look.
